Hello world! This is our first blog post and we are super excited to be here! My name is Stef and I run a sweet shop on Etsy with my girlfriend Alexis. We call it TEEvolve and it’s all about taking recycled materials and using them in a way that makes them modern and in style. We mostly get our clothing from second hand stores and we upcycle it by hand stenciling cool images on or make it into scarves, t-shirt yarn, etc. We have thousands of projects going on daily and have a blast doing all of it. Life is pretty sweet to us, so we try and be sweet back.
Now, we’ve decided that one of the most important aspects of our business is fashion and what’s in style, because you can take a t-shirt and recycle it a million ways but it’s only going to matter if it appeals to everyone else in the world. What I’m trying to say is that I can only wear so many articles of clothing, haha. So on Saturdays we are going to be writing blogs about what is on the runways and how you can achieve that look at home for way less money using vintage and recycled pieces.
This week the trend we’re going to be talking about is masculine women’s clothing. It’s been all over the runways with model’s strutting down the catwalk in men’s trousers and a frilly lace blouse- and we LOVE it. Finally, the boundaries are being pushed and women are able to embrace their tomboy side while still being sexy. One of the shows that really sparked my creativity was Hermes. Models were seen wearing trousers, suit jackets, skinny belts and bowler hats. I’ve picked my favorite look from Hermes runway and found pieces from the Etsy community that would work if you wanted to try this fabulous trend!
My favorite is the leopard print dress accessorized with a brown belt, tights, gloves and a bowler. It’s amazing what you can add to things you’ve already got to update it into this style. Pardon my sketch and 2nd grade coloring skills- I was in a rush to get it done and I don’t have the best scanner- but you get the idea.

The main piece is this fabulous leopard dress from smittenclothing. And at only $15 who can say no? It is a reconstructed vintage dress that used to have sleeves and be floor length if you can believe it. It has very feminine ruffles yet isn’t overly feminine with its high neckline.
I chose a beautiful recycled vintage leather capelet from jessamity, which is selling for $186, to accompany the dress in this trendy look. This would be cute with jeans too. The leather adds some masculinity to the look and makes it a bit heavier looking. Still, the capelet has feminine touches like the gorgeous coils sewn onto the back and the cropping.
To accessorize, I chose a vintage brown bag by adicav and a sweet skinny vintage belt from bowtievintage. Both are steals at $12 for the belt and only $10.99 for the bag! These pieces could easily be used in so many aspects of your wardrobe, they are worth the buy!
I also chose this 1960’s vintage bowler from DalenaVintage which is selling for only $28 and a pair of vintage gloves from shopatmoxie for $16.95! The bowler is totally fabulous and would be a great addition to this, or any, outfit. It has a tan ribbon that makes it just feminine enough. These gloves would go wonderfully with jessamity’s capelet! They really make the outfit pop.
